About Terre des hommes (Tdh):
Terre des Hommes has been working in Bangladesh since 1974, implementing integrated humanitarian and development programmes across Cox's Bazar, Kurigram, and Dhaka. The country programme focuses on Health, Access to Justice (including social cohesion and conflict resolution), and Migration, supported by cross-cutting expertise in Child Protection and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). Tdh's interventions address both humanitarian needs and long-term development priorities, with a strong emphasis on resilience, localization, and systems strengthening. Following the large-scale influx of more than 800,000 Rohingya refugees into Bangladesh since August 2017, Tdh significantly expanded its humanitarian response in Cox's Bazar to provide integrated and life-saving assistance to Rohingya refugees and vulnerable host communities. The response includes comprehensive interventions in Health, WASH, Child Protection, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), and Social Cohesion, delivered in close coordination with government authorities, UN agencies, and humanitarian partners.
Building on its extensive humanitarian experience, Tdh is advancing an integrated Humanitarian–Development–Peace (HDP) Nexus approach that links emergency response with longer-term recovery and resilience. The organization is committed to strengthening local capacities, generating evidence and learning, promoting localization, and leveraging programme experience to inform policy dialogue, advocacy, and sustainable programme expansion across Bangladesh.
Context:
Tdh has been present and active in Bangladesh since 1974 and focuses its work on Migration, tackling child labour, health, child protection, WASH, Access to Justice and humanitarian aid. We are currently working in Dhaka, Cox’s Bazar, Ukhiya, Teknaf, Kurigram and Satkhira.
Description of the position:
The Waste Management Plant Agent will support Waste Management Assistant to implement the qualitative plastics waste recycling production and its management related activities in the project location in Teknaf base.
Specific responsibilities:
Main Responsibilities
Support the daily operation of the plastics recycling plant under the guidance of the line manager.
Support the regular production and reprocessing of recycled materials and ensure the availability of necessary safety materials/equipment (first aid box, fire extinguisher, etc.).
Ensure that plant operations follow the approved operational guidelines and procedures.
Support plastics waste management activities, identify field needs, and maintain relevant records properly at the office.
Supervise volunteers/DWs according to their work plans, ensure the use of PPE, and keep their relevant information updated.
Assist the line manager in preparing volunteers/DWs’ payment-related documents properly.
Update the line manager regularly on the operational situation and identify areas where support is needed.
Monitor the proper cleaning and collection of plastic waste by volunteers/DWs.
Ensure Do No Harm, Sphere guidelines, and CHS principles are considered during community engagement activities.
Coordinate with WASH team members for the distribution of production materials in the field.
Support the proper operation and routine maintenance of the plastics recycling plant and its equipment, including the shredder, molding, and making machines.
Prepare necessary reports using quantitative data and maintain soft and hard copies of relevant documents properly at the office.
upport the development of necessary IEC materials based on field needs and the assigned area.
Organize orienatation and training for the plastics recycling volunteers/DWs
Participate in relevant meetings, if needed, as well as trainings, orientations, and workshops organized by the sector and organization.
Planning and Reporting
Assist the line manager in preparing work plans for plastics recycling production activities based on field needs and priorities.
Provide regular updates to the line manager on implementation and progress through oral or written communication, as required.
Maintain the plant materials and product stock register properly and participate in weekly and monthly staff meetings.
Prepare and submit required plastics recycling activity-related reports with support from the line manager, as needed.
Seurity and Child Safety
Support staff visibility and safety at the recycling plant, including the proper use of PPE.

Profile: We are looking for a Waste Management Plant Agent with practical experience
Education: HSC or equivalent qualification
Experience and Skills:
2-3 years of relavent experience
Experience of plastics waste management and production
Good understanding on Rohingya camp
Good capacity to work under pressure
Strong facilitation, analytical, negotiation, coordination, communications skills
Sound knoledge on rural/ rohingya context
Hard working
Sincere, responsible and committed
Intelligent, Promptness
Ability and willingness to work in team
Experience of community plastics recycling plant management
Experience of working in multi-cultural environments an advantage
Excellent writing and reporting skills
Languages:
Local language & English
Salary: Monthly gross salary of BDT. 27,900/-
